GENTLE WINDS is located on the north shore of St. Croix on a private sixty-acre estate with lush tropical landscaping surrounded by hills dipping in to the sea. There are 66 units.
There is a wide white sand beach and a coral-free swimming area. The water at the beach is lovely clear pale aqua.
Palm frond umbrellas provide a needed respite from the sun. And unlike some resorts, there are ample beach lounges.
The swimming area is sandy -bottomed and is cordoned off for safety. But there's also great snorkeling beyond when the water's calm.
Beside the beach is an olympic-
sized freeform swimming pool under a grove of coconut palms and a beach bar.
The Beach Bar serves tasty hot sandwiches, good salads, and tropical drinks that will knock your socks off along with cheerful camaraderie.
The Beach runs down to tidal pools and rocks on the west.
On the east, it runs past the property down to the mouth of Salt River and the new National Monument, run by the National Park Service, where Columbus landed in 1493.
Next to the Pool is the Great Room, a very relaxing refuge where you will find comfortable sofas and a voluminous library of whodonits, etc. for your beach reading pleasure.
Also inside the Great Room there's a ping pong table and a supply of beach toys for the kids along with snazzy artwork depicting the North Shore of St. Croix. There's also a shuffleboard court just outside.
Beyond the Great Room is a chipping green to practice for the island’s renowned golf courses, or for kids to begin their golf careers. Two more holes have recently been added.
There are two tennis courts, a basketball court, and a playground. And you will find friendly on site staff there to assist you with any questions or needs.
